A patient who was here for a couple of months returned home. She shares a home with her daughter who can continue assisting her with her care needs. The patient said she thought she was on the path to degeneration and death when she came to Sunrise, but that the expectancy of regeneration and life expressed by the Christian Science nurses helped to heal her of this false belief.
We witnessed a couple of quick and immediate healings by individuals who came for very short stays. This includes a healing of severe depression in 2 days.
A woman came whose husband had recently moved to a care facility. She was challenged with suddenly having to live alone. After a short stay, she gained her dominion and returned home happy.
Another patient came in after falling and was challenged with walking. Within a very short period of time, he resumed his normal way of walking and was able to return home. During the inquiry he said that he just needed to come to Sunrise Haven to be surrounded by the love that was here.
On New Year’s Day we had a call for an immediate need. After talking with the family and the patient, we determined it would be best to send a Christian Science nurse to the home to assess the situation. By the time the Christian Science nurse arrived there was tremendous progress. The patient had a quick healing and didn’t need to come to Sunrise. The family was instructed on how to help the patient up off the floor if there was another need. Mobility aids were left but were soon returned because they were not needed.
We had a patient who had gone to the hospital because of concern from her children and was diagnosed with a stroke. This individual was a deep thinker, and quite unselfish. She came to Sunrise with some fear and needed to use a walker some to walk. She left Sunrise, but then came back after a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks later she went home healed and completely grateful.
A couple was on a trip with their daughter and her husband and the wife got ill and they took her to Sunrise. The whole family was able to stay at Sunrise, and there was some fear expressed by the daughter about her mom. This fear was reported during shift change. Well, the next shift was very harmonious, the mother was able to listen to a lecture being played in the dayroom from her room. At bedtime, the patient sang harmony to a hymn being sung by the Christian Science nurse. The daughter said her mom always sings harmony, and it lifter her heart to hear her! Son after there was a healing, they went home, and wrote a beautiful thank you note thanking everyone at Sunrise. She wrote an article about her healing that was published in the Christian Science Journal.
We had a patient who was unable to walk, but was a joy to work with, so light-hearted, doesn’t ask for much, never complained, patiently explaining what needs to be done. And guess what? He started making good progress – he started walking with a walker! He gave testimonies every Wednesday, one of which was a testimony about the progress he was making but he didn’t think it was going fast enough. But that was a red flag and he realized he kept needing to be grateful. He went home, grateful for the healing.
We had a patient who did not feel he could come to the testimony meeting. He didn’t feel like he could sit in a chair for that long, so a Christian Science nurse brought him in the bed. He gave a testimony, and we just happened to sing his favorite hymn. A family member testified to the healing he told about depression and said that the part of his family that were not Christian Scientists acknowledged that it was Christian Science that healed him. He was letting his light shine. This patient was healed. He started walking and being on his own, whereas, he used to be in bed and always calling for the Christian Science nurse. He left Sunrise healed and grateful for the healing!
We had a patient come from the hospital who had heart surgery and a hip set and was so scared at the hospital’s prognosis. During the night shift one of the first nights she was at Sunrise the Christian Science nurse had to stay with her declaring the Truth, singing hymns and being calm. She wasn’t able to get up without a lot of help. A few weeks later she was able to get up and do everything she had normally done.
A patient came who’d left Christian Science years ago and had begun studying again. One of our Christian Science nurses was visiting her regularly for a few months. She’d been helped greatly by her recent Christian Science study and decided she wanted to rely on God for healing. She made wonderful progress while with us and was able to move to a Christian Science assisted living facility in another state, close to her son.
A mother brought in her teenage daughter who had injured her foot and wanted to make sure they were caring for the situation correctly. We confirmed they were. The mother and daughter were very grateful that they had Sunrise Haven to come to.
A Christian Scientist came to Sunrise Haven who had not been sleeping through the night for many days due to a physical challenge. During his stay with us, he slept through the night peacefully and went home within a few days.
A daughter brought her mother in from another state in the back of her van flat on her back following a fall which occurred while splitting wood. When she arrived, she was unable to move one leg. In just a week she was able to stand and get into a chair. She gradually started walking again and was very grateful for the support and inspiration she received while she was at Sunrise Haven.
